Maghrib To Mark Teacher's Day

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Education held a mass maghrib prayer at the University Brunei Darussalam (URD) Mosque yesterday, in conjunction with the 18'h Teacher's Day celebration.

Present as the guest of honor was Acting Minister of Education Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman.

Also in attendance were permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Education, vice chancellor of UBD, and senior officials and staff at the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs and UBD.

The ceremony saw the recital of surah yassin, tahlil and doa kesyukuran.

Teacher's Day is normally celebrated on September 23 in commemoration with Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien's birthday.

However, since it falls in the month of Ramadhan this year, the celebrations, themed "Guru Pembentuk Tunas Bangsa", have been postponed and will be held on October 18 at the International Convention Centre (ICC).

Over 500 people are expected to join the celebration, which will also feature foreign invited speakers.
